550 Crashes, Three Fatalities: State Police Release Holiday Enforcement Stats

Connecticut State Police have officially released statistics of holiday crashes and traffic violations.

The time of coverage started at 12 a.m. Friday, Dec. 21 and went on until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26. During this time, there were increased patrols on roads and highways across the state on the lookout for erratic or dangerous drivers.

Here’s how the traffic incident numbers break down:

  • Speeding violations: 659
  • Seatbelt violations: 14
  • Other hazardous violations (unsafe lane changes, cell phone usage, failure to signal, following too closely, etc.): 46
  • DUI arrests: 55
  • Accidents investigated: 550
  • Accidents with injury: 60
  • Fatalities: 3
  • Calls for service: 8,435
